name itself. In the 20s when Coca Cola was entering the market in China,<BR>
they had to sift through many possible character combinations to find the<BR>
right one to register as a trademark. They were trying to find a relatively<BR>
"neutral" combination, which was difficult, as the only character for "la"<BR>
translated into wax. However, Coke was a big hit while they were looking for<BR>
the right combinations, and local store owners made their own signs to<BR>
indicate that they had the soft drink. These translated into things like<BR>
"bite the wax tadpole" and other nonsense phrases.<BR>

It's important not to underestimate the intelligence of the Chinese here.<BR>
They understood these signs to read, phonetically, Coca Cola.<BR>

In the late 20s, Coke registered a specific set of characters as their<BR>
trademark. These characters can be translated, when together, as something<BR>
along the lines of "brings joy to your mouth". The folks at Coke are quite<BR>

Almost sounds like a Roman "donative" but on an individual rather than<BR>

POTS, Satellite, Laser/Maser, Infrared, Microwave Radio, Copper Cable,Wireless (Cellular),<BR>
Lightwave (Fiber Optics, SONET, FDDI), VHF/UHF, ELF, AM/FM, TV/Video<BR>
(CCTV/NTSC/PAL), ISDN, ADSL, T1, Global Networks (TCP/IP, SNA, X.25,<BR>
Frame Relay, ATM), Enterprise Networks. Possible future and fictionaltechnologies:<BR>
Meson, Tachyeon, Subspace, Proton, Warp, etc. Am I missing something.Thanks!<BR>
